HKU Village Commoning Symposium
The University of Hong Kong is inviting us to join a Village Commoning Symposium on April 29 (Sat) at 9:30-5:30pm at Commons Workshop (Wan Chai).
This symposium aims to foster a thorough understanding of the concept and theory of commoning, and to spark conversation about its potential in contributing to village revitalisation in Hong Kong. The event primarily targets current village revitalisation practitioners, including NGO personnels, scholars, professional sectors (such as architects, planners, landscape architects, conservationists, etc.), government officials, and villagers; participants will learn from urban and rural commoning methodologies. Such knowledge will nurture participants to consider the potential of village commoning in rural development.
The morning session will first share with participants the theories behind commoning through 3 international experts and will then flow into how commoning is applied in local Hong Kong settings. The afternoon session will adopt a more interactive model, beginning with the sharing of findings from the Village Commoning project, followed by a workshop and panel discussion designed to give participants an immersive commoning experience.
