– Speaker: Mr. Dennis Li
– Language: Cantonese supplemented by English
Description:
There have been many anticipated benefits of using the NEC form of contract when it has been introduced and widely adopted in Hong Kong. After it was landed and applied in Hong Kong a decade ago, there had been successful implementations as well as problems with NEC. Two major issues that we may have observed, which are obvious and imminent, in recent years are:
1) Some practitioners find this form of contract logical and useful while some express their discontent with its inefficiency; and
2) While NEC has been proved to be a successful arrangement in some pilot projects, some claim that they cannot be satisfied with the current use and performance of NEC.
As to what has gone wrong in the process, the speaker will explain and investigate the phenomena and identify causes of these issues. By providing new insights, he will share his experience with participants and ways to deal with the possible challenges of NEC projects in Hong Kong.
