Located at the north-western corner of Hong Kong, the Mai Po and Inner Deep Bay wetlands are recognised as a Wetland of International Importance under the prestigious Ramsar Convention. For more than three decades, Mai Po Nature Reserve has been a paradise for birds and proactively managed by WWF-Hong Kong since 1983.
Under the development of Northern Metropolis, a proactive conservation strategy for the wetland landscape is suggested by the Hong Kong government. In this study tour, representatives of WWF will share their management experience of Mai Po Nature Reserve, providing participant a case study of wetland and waterbird conservation situated in the heart of the Northern Metropolis wetland landscape.
The event comprises a half-day guided tour and a half-day seminar that features the technical aspects of wetland management. Participants will gain exposure to the wetland habitat and details of wetland design and considerations.
