Synopsis
In March 2026, the Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) and the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) jointly launched the Hong Kong Nature-based Solutions Design Guidelines (HKNbSDG). Benchmarked against global standards from the IUCN and other leading frameworks, the HKNbSDG is specifically tailored to the urban environment, providing practical planning and design guidelines for infrastructure and development projects. By championing Nature-based Solutions (NbS) to address societal challenges, the guidelines strike a vital balance between development and nature conservation while enhancing Hong Kong’s climate resilience and driving sustainable development.
Landscape architects play a pivotal role in advancing Nature-based Solutions. Join us for an interactive session to gain insights on the guidelines’ framework, principles, performance evaluation and local case studies.
