Synopsis

Forest for All is a Hong Kong native species forest designed to heal Tao Fong Shan’s degraded mountaintop ecosystem destroyed by previous human activity. As a creative reforestation project conceived for the long now, Forest for All restores the damaged mountain and empowers Hong Kong people to connect with nature through learning about and caring for the environment. Through this curated environmental education initiative and sustainable inclusive community project, everyone from young to elderly plants trees in Forest for All and learns through hands-on nature education. Designed for more-than-human life, Forest for All restores local biodiversity, improves air quality, and provides habitats for wildlife. Amid the urgency of climate change in today’s anthropocentric society, designers have an ethical responsibility to take action and contribute to more-than-human living spaces and trans-species comfort. Forest for All is created by and for Hong Kong’s thriving life for future generations. Tao Fung Shan Christian Centre was founded in 1930 by the Norwegian missionary Karl Ludvig Reichelt. The Centre has been accorded Grade II Historic Building, featuring a rich combination of Chinese architectural elements with Christian faith.
